CL-2008 Confronts the Challenge of CQB Training |
|
The recently concluded summer training program for the cadets of Philippine National Police Academy left an
indomitable mark on their education. Part of the strategic planning, half of Oman Silang Class of 2008, underwent
Close Quarter Battle as a prerequisite to their curriculum and a preparation to the Counter-Insurgency Program
initiated by the government. On the other hand, the remaining served as Immediate Supervisors to assist the Cadet
Orientation Program of the Class 2011.
On the April 16, 2007, CQB was launched at the Firing range of PNPA, making it more accessible and practical
for both parties (cadets and in-house AIs). Included in the course were the Fundamentals of Close Quarter Battle,
Field Training Exercises, Ambush and Counter Ambush, etc.
PCI Isaias Absin Bacurnay, PSI Gauvin Mel Yamashita Unos, the course directors together with the staff from
National Capital Region Police Office-Light Reaction Unit (NCRPO-LRU) and Special Weapons And Tactics (SWAT)
headed by PCI Rex Arvin T Malimban and company made the summer training productive and purposively planned
for the betterment and development of skills among the cadets especially in Crisis Management.

PPSC President celebrates B-day with Cadets |
|
PPSC President, Madam Margarita “Ting-Ting” R. Cojuangco celebrated her birthday at the
Academy on April 28, 2007, with family and relatives. It was an honor to be visited by one of the
most prominent society figures and one of the Academy’s VIPs.
Amidst luscious food, a mellow serenade by the Cadet Combo and entertainment
provided by the talented Council of Comedians, the event was a huge success.
The President’s family made the event more colorful as they joined the Corps in
celebrating their mother’s birthday.
In her brief speech, the celebrator’s daughter, Mikee Cojuangco-Jaworski,
said she considered the Academy an extension of their home and the Corps
her siblings. The grand finale was the blowing of candles of the big birthday
cake.
As a form of gratitude, PSSUPT Nestor M Fajura
granted 50 merits for all the cadets as a gift to the President
and to the entire Corps as well.
