CL-2009 Confronts the Challenge of CQB Training |

The recently concluded summer training program for the cadets of Philippine National Police Academy left an indomitable mark on their education. Part of the strategic planning, one fourth of Class of 2009, underwent Close Quarter Battle as a prerequisite to their curriculum and a preparation to the Counter-Insurgency Program initiated by the government. On the other hand, the remaining served as Immediate Supervisors to assist the Cadet Orientation Program of the Class 2012. On the April 16, 2008, CQB was launched at the Firing range of PNPA, making it more accessible and practical for both parties (cadets and in-house AIs). Included in the course were the Fundamentals of Close Quarter Battle, Field Training Exercises, Ambush and Counter Ambush, etc. PI GALISIM and PSI PASICOLAN, the course directors together with the staff from National Capital Region Police Office-Light Reaction Unit (NCRPO-LRU) and Special Weapons And Tactics (SWAT) headed by PCI Rex Arvin T Malimban and company made the summer training productive and purposively planned for the betterment and development of skills among the cadets especially in Crisis Management. |

PIC Inaugurated for CL-2011 |

Part of the curriculum for the Bachelor of Science in Public Safety is that every cadet should undergo summer training programs. Each class has its own specific program designed to facilitate the cadets’ future needs. On April 16, 2008, the Summer Camp training was inaugurated at the Philippine National Police Academy, Silang, Cavite. As for the Mabikas Class of 2011, they underwent Police Intervention Course (PIC) and a series of Seminars. The class was divided according to battalions to be able to cater the needs of each team. The first set was the first to taste the adventures and learning in PIC together with the supportive Course Director, PCI SALVADOR. |

Class 2010 Undergoes PNP Scout |
|
Under the scorching heat of sun, the Philippine National Police Special Counter-Insurgency Operations Unit Training (PNPSCOUT) for the Class of 2010was formally inaugurated on April 16, 2008 at the Campos Field of the Philippine National Police Academy, together with the rest of the summer training programs for other classes. Initially, their hair were cut short for a more conducive learning and comfortable training as they face the rigorous activities designed to equip them tactically and strategically. Highlights of the training were the Helirappell, Field Training Exercises (FTX), Endurance Firing and others. Far different from last year’s program for PNPScout, the Class 2010opted to conduct the summer training at the PNPA firing range, headed by their course director PI galisim and officers and men from the PNPSAF. |

Graduating Cadets Choose Their Service Bureaus |
Members of the Class of 2009 chose their preferred service bureaus as required by the Academics Department on June 2008 at the PCAI Hall of Academics Building under the supervision of the Commandet of Cadets. Before the said selection, representatives from Bureau of Fire Protection, Bureau of Jail Management and Penology, and Philippine National Police came to discuss before the cadets the advantages of their respective bureaus.
After the Graduating Cadets made up their minds, 20 cadets chose BJMP, 7 cadets preferred BFP and the rest chose PNP. |

New Cadets Battle the First Taste of Cadetship |
On April 14, 2008, the traditional Reception Rites of the new batch of cadets was conducted at the Campos Field at Philippine National Police Academy. The said batch of cadets composing the 300 members of Class of 2012 was the chosen group among the thousands of aspirants, who have to undergo the PNPA Cadetship Training Program after going through the filter of rigid selection process such as Medical, Neuropsychiatry and Physical Fitness tests. The Reception Rites is one of the cherished traditions of the Academy in which new batch of cadets is welcomed or received by the Cadet Corps and made to perform different exercises. |
