June 22, 2009 ACADEMIC FORUM BY PSI RODEL GUROBAT TRUMATA In her speech during the opening ceremony of the Academic Forum 2009, Honorable Margarita “Tingting” Cojuangco, the President Philippine Public Safety College (PPSC), put emphasis on the significance of the forum to better uphold the new concepts and methodologies in possibly integrating contemporary and innovative programs in the educational system of the Academy. The first session of the two-day Joint PPSC and PNPA Academic Forum was held on June 20, 2009 (Saturday) at the PNPA Messhall. And on July 5, 2009 (Saturday) will be the conclusion of the activity with other equally competent and knowledgeable guest lecturers and resource speakers from other government agencies and well known institutions.
Invited resource speaker, Director GASPAR A. GAYONA, Ph. D CEO IV, the Regional Director TESDA, elaborated the topic on the “Organizational Development and Transformation: Benchmarks for Public Service Management.” During the forum, his expertise and unquestionable academic portfolio has brought up an impressive discourse, proving that his knowledge is competitively enhanced with his great experiences, and bearing out as the brain behind the well regarded recognitions through his current and previous managerial functions in all organizations he joined. Director Gayona concluded his two-hour discussion with a rapt and engrossed audience whose time spent was totally paid off. Brigadier General JAIME CALLADA ECHEVERRIA, AFP (RET) inevitably became very outspoken on his colorful experiences in the uniform service which amplified the audience interest while at the forum. Brigadier General ECHEVERRIA, noted as the most requested resource speaker, was tasked to share his insights about “Morality and Governance: Context and Applications in the Public Service.” After the forum, Police Superintendent ELMER BUAN TORRES, the Head Nurse PNPA Medical Dispensary, presented the token of appreciation, a mini-shaku, to the resource speakers who earned not only of those humbling remarks but also the endless gratitude from PNPA family for being part of the Academic forum 2009. This year’s academic forum signals the fastest pace of the Academy to attain another development on the educational and training programs of the Academy. It is with the joint efforts of Philippine National Police Academy Alumni Association Incorporated (PNPAAAI), the PNPA and the PPSC to come up with this very timely program that would benefit the academy in a long term basis. Thus, the incumbent Director of PNPA, PCSUPT DANILO QUERUBIN ABARZOSA, has been consistently eyeing on his plans and programs with all the possible options to introduce systems which would directly result in more adaptive, improved and effective education and training programs for the cadets as future Public Safety Officers. |
